PUBLICATIONSIntroduction [Biosketch]
- Dr. Partha Das is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Silchar. Before Joining NIT Silchar, he served as Assistant Professor at NSUT (Govt. of NCT-Delhi) from December 2021 to March 2026. He obtained Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from IIT Guwahati, MTech in Geotechnical Engineering from NIT Warangal and BE in Civil Engineering from Assam Engineering College (Gauhati University). His doctoral research focused on contaminant transport through soils and the development of sustainable barrier systems for geoenvironmental applications. He has published several research articles in reputed international journals, including Scientific Reports, Bulletin of Engineering Geology and the Environment, ACS Chemical Neuroscience, Canadian Geotechnical Journal, Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, Fuel and other leading journals in the field of Geotechnical and Environmental Engineering.
- Dr. Das has received several national and international recognitions, including the A.V. Shroff Biennial Award of the Indian Geotechnical Society, Best Presenter Awards at international conferences held in India and the United States. Dr. Das has successfully attracted competitive research support, including funding from the Anusandhan National Research Foundation for presenting his research at the International Clay Conference, Dublin. He also received the Commendable Research Award from NSUT (Govt. of Delhi) for publishing his research work in high-impact-factor journals. His recent work in Heritage Geotechnics on the engineering principles behind the construction of the Brihadeeshwara Temple received international attention and he was featured by Discovery Plus and Amazon Prime. Beyond research, Dr. Das is actively engaged in teaching and curriculum development. At NSUT, he developed specialized courses in Unsaturated Soil Mechanics and Temple Geotechnics, integrating advanced geotechnical concepts with field-based investigations and forensic engineering studies.
- He also serves as a reviewer for several reputed international journals and is a member of the Editorial Board of Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio). Dr. Das is committed to advancing sustainable infrastructure through innovative geotechnical solutions, interdisciplinary research, and industry-academia collaboration.

- Selected by the Government of Peoples Republic of China and Government of India as one of the 4 members (only Research Scholar) to represent IIT Guwahati in a Youth Exchange Programme to China in the year 2018.
- Received Best Presenter Award (100 USD) at University of Illinois, Chicago (UIC) for the work entitled “Effect of Mixed salts on the long-term behavior of compacted Bentonite clay” conferred by Springer-Nature in the year 2019.
- Received full time MHRD Fellowship for pursuing MTech from NIT Warangal and PhD from IIT Guwahati.

- Received ANRF (ITS) grant in the year 2025 to present the work “Montmorillonite and kaolinite as a novel bio-inspired material for the attenuation of viral pathogens and salt leachates” at 17th International Clay Conference held in Trinity College, Dublin.
- Received Commendable Research Award from NSUT (Govt. of NCT-Delhi) for publishing articles having impact factor more than 5 in the year 2025.
- Recent work on Brihadeshwara Temple in lines with Indian Knowledge system was recognized by Discovery Plus, and Amazon Prime (OTT) as complete episode.
