Introduction [Biosketch]

  • Dr. Briti Sundar Sil is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at National Institute of Technology Silchar. He has been actively engaged in teaching, research, consultancy, and academic administration, contributing significantly to the growth and development of the institute.
  • He completed his B.E. in Civil Engineering from Jorhat Engineering College, and obtained his M.Tech and Ph.D. in Water Resources Engineering from NIT Silchar. His areas of expertise include surface hydrology, sediment transport, river engineering, and climate change impact assessment.
  • Dr. Sil has successfully completed research projects sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology and is currently involved in ongoing research addressing key challenges in water resources and environmental sustainability.
  • He has also provided extensive consultancy services to various government organizations such as the Water Resources Department, Public Works Department, and Military Engineer Services. His consultancy work focuses on hydrological analysis, river behavior, erosion control, and infrastructure planning.
  • Dr. Sil served as Associate Dean (Planning & Development) at NIT Silchar, where he contributed to several institutional development initiatives and infrastructure planning activities, playing an important role in the institute’s expansion and modernization.
  • He has published numerous research papers in reputed journals and has guided postgraduate and doctoral students. His work reflects a strong commitment to applying engineering knowledge to solve real-world problems and promote sustainable development.
