- Dr. Ankush Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar, where he has been serving since December 2025. Prior to this, he worked as an Assistant Professor (Temporary Faculty) in the Department of Civil Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Sikkim from September 2024 to December 2025. He obtained his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, after completing his M.Tech in Civil Engineering from the same institute and a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala. Dr. Kumar possesses strong expertise in the rheological, mechanical, chemical, and microstructural characterization of asphalt binders and mixtures. His scholarly contributions include 30 journal publications, 14 Scopus-indexed book chapters and conference proceedings, and over 40 papers presented at leading national and international conferences. He has received several national and international accolades, including the Indo–Asian Thomas Telford Best Teacher & Researcher Award, the Bihar PWD Medal from the Indian Roads Congress, the DST International Travel Support Grant, five best paper/presentation awards at international conferences, and first prize in the National Road Safety Competition. Dr. Kumar has also contributed to professional capacity building as a resource person for invited lectures and training programs conducted by the Rural Connectivity Training & Research Center, Assam, and the Assam Road Research & Training Institute (ARR&TI), PWRD, Assam. He has contributed as a transcript editor and reviewer for the NPTEL Course (Pavement Construction Technology). He is a Life Member of the Indian Roads Congress (IRC) and a Young Member of RILEM, and actively serves as a reviewer for 16 reputed international journals published by Elsevier, Springer Nature, and ASCE.
